"The existence of our Cafe is in response to the appeal by both Pope Francis and Archbishop John, that we all become missionaries, seeking to help other people to know the Lord Jesus and his great, saving love. Our ‘Evangelisation Café’ known as the Olde Forge Café currently involves over 50 parishioners as Hosts, Bakers and Welcomers. Our geographic area of Sanderstead has a strong ‘Coffee Culture’. Our Café is our way of engaging with that culture as we strive to facilitate an encounter between the Lord and people who would normally have no connection whatsoever with our Catholic Faith nor our Catholic community through our welcome, hospitality and kindness.
We believe that having this human and warm connection with us, may prompt many visitors to think about Catholic Faith and begin to ask themselves and to ask us about the reasons for our Hope."
