PARISH VISITATION
One of the important traditions in parish life, for many, many years, was that the Parish Priest would visit the people of his parish in their homes. In recent times, parishes have sadly lost this tradition. Jesus himself would visit people, to know them and for them to know him, describing himself as a ‘Good Shepherd who knows his sheep.” I’m hoping to follow the Lord’s example and to revive this good tradition, in our parish. I would like to begin visiting you in your homes, in a systematic way. If the Lord gives me strength, every Wednesday morning, from about 10.30 until 12 midday, I’ll be out and about in our parish, knocking on your doors to just say hello and see how you are, for a few minutes. I’ll try to do this systematically, visiting the streets and roads and avenues of our parish, in alphabetical order. This could take me a very long time but let’s begin and see how it works! I’ll begin this week by visits on Addington Road. I’ll move on to a new road, when I have visited every house in a particular street where a member of our parish is known to live. If you would like it, I would be very happy to bless your home, when I visit. If you are in, that’s great. I won’t take up much of your time, just a few minutes. If you are not in, I’ll leave you a card. I’ll be praying for everyone in every home I visit. Each week, on the Newsletter, I’ll let you know where I’m hoping to visit. If you have recently moved into our parish, please make sure that I have your address.
